Benni McCarthy invites former Orlando Pirates winger to AmaZulu training

AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy has invited former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United left-winger Thabo Qalinge to train with the club.

AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy has invited former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United left-winger Thabo Qalinge to train with the club.

The 29-year-old has been without a club since since July 2020 following his release from Matsatsantsa after a short-lived spell.

‘Section 10’ as he is known in SA football circles, first came to prominence at Mpumalanga Black Aces before a dream move to Orlando Pirates in 2014.

However, a knee injury limited his appearances, but Thabo Qalinge is now reportedly fit and ready to play.

“Yes, Qalinge is with AmaZulu training with the club. He arrived last week, but things will be much clearer next week I think,” a source told the KickOff website.

AmaZulu, who are coming off a 2-1 win over Chippa United, are currently in sixth-place in the DStv Premiership standings after 19 matches having picked up 31 points to date.

They will next be in action against TTM at home on Sunday, 21 March.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
