Benni McCarthy and Peter Shalulile scoop PSL monthly awards

AmaZulu head coach Benni McCarthy has been named the DStv Premiership coach of the month for January/February.

AmaZulu head coach Benni McCarthy has been named the DStv Premiership Coach of the Month for January/February, the league announced on Monday.

Under McCarthy’s guidance, Usuthu collected 15 points in eight games played between January 12 and February 24.

AmaZulu also scored 11 goals and kept three clean sheets.

McCarthy beat Manqoba Mngqithi of Mamelodi Sundowns and Mandla Ncikazi of Golden Arrows to the award.

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile was also named the Player of the Month following his stellar performances for the Tshwane giants.

Shalulile scored three goals and grabbed two assists in the six matches he featured in for Sundowns during that period.

This is his first PSL monthly award since his arrival in South Africa six years ago.

Shalulile beat Bradley Grobler of SuperSport United and AmaZulu’s Augustine Mulenga who also enjoyed a good run for their respective teams.

Furthermore, Tapelo Xoki of AmaZulu walked away with the Goal of he Month award for his superb free-kick during his team’s 4-3 win over Bloemfontein Celtic.
