Bafana Bafana International admits to Kaizer Chiefs transfer talks!

After the loss of academy product Njabulo Blom left Kaizer Chiefs for MLS side St. Louis City, it was no secret that the Glamour Boys needed a midfielder.

After the loss of academy product Njabulo Blom left Kaizer Chiefs for MLS side St. Louis City, it was no secret that the Glamour Boys needed a midfielder.

One of the names that was heavily linked with Chiefs was former Bafana Bafana International Kamohelo Mokotjo

A move bringing Mokotjo to Naturena did not materialise, however, with many in the South African  football industry were then shocked to find out that the experienced holding midfielder had in fact signed for Limpopo-based side Sekhukhune United instead. The player has since opened up about the Chiefs transfer talks for the first time since returning to the country.

Speaking to iDiski Times Mokotjo admits that there were indeed talks about a move between himself and Chiefs.

Mokotjo admits to Chiefs talks

“I didn’t know what to make of it. Saw a lot of things in the media and yeah, that was that I think that a certain perception of me, you know, that I didn’t really get, But yeah there were talks. But not fruitful. I’ll just leave it at that because I tell you something, I respect every club. You know. I respect every club and whether things go my way, or they don’t. I think that’s God’s plan. And yeah, I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be at the moment.” Mokotjo said on Chiefs talks.

Mokotjo also the expressed his gratitude to Sekhukhune for picking him up and giving him a chance to return to football after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

“I’m very, I’m very, very grateful, very grateful to them. Because I know how I was seen and how I was portrayed and who they think I am.” Said Mokotjo.

Although it might feel like ages ago, but Mokotjo last featured for Bafana Bafana under former coach Molefi Ntseki in 2020, a man who is now, ironically part of the Chiefs structures.
