An ex-Bafana Bafana defender has, for the first time, published how much he used to earn during his days with the now defunct Bidvest Wits.

A former Bafana Bafana defender has, for the first time, published how much he used to earn during his days with the now defunct Bidvest Wits.

In a shock revelation, Buhle Mkhwanazi shared with his followers on Instagram, the contract he signed with Wits for a period between 2018 and 2021.

Mkhwanazi first joined Wits from the University of Pretoria in 2014 – and it is unclear how much was first salary at the time.

Now, for the 2018-19 season, Mkhwanazi earned R195 000 per month, and the following season, he took home R175 000 at the end of each month.

In his final season with Wits (2020-21), Mkhwanazi walked away with R190 000 per month for his efforts on the pitch.
Mkhwanazi is currently unattached to any club following his departure from SuperSport United at the end of last season.

He parted ways with Matsatsantsa after refusing to vaccinate for Covid-19. At the time the two parties were at loggerheads, Mkhwanazi wasn’t playing at all.
