Kaizer Chiefs star Du Preez suffers suspected leg fracture

News has emerged that Chiefs striker Ashley Du Preez sustained a fracture to his leg against Cape Town City. The severity of the fracture isn’t yet known, but his involvement in pre-season training for 2023-24 must already be in serious jeopardy. The injury also came just when Du Preez was starting to get into his groove. The former Stellies attacker scored six goals and supplied five assists in the league this term.

Chiefs to wield the axe

Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana will likely be leaving Naturena after a disappointing debut campaign with Chiefs. The tall Burundian number 9 hasn’t fit in to the style of play the Glamour Boys want to nurture. He’s also far down the pecking order with game a serious rarity for the 25-year-old. With a cloud of doubt also hovering over Khama Billiat’s future, the Glamour Boys attack could look very different at the start of the next campaign.

With Chiefs scoring a paltry tally of 32 goals in 30 PSL matches this season a new-look attack isn’t a luxury now, it’s a necessity.
