Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane says they “gave away points again” after sharing the spoils with Marumo Gallants on Sunday afternoon at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

Amakhosi found a late equaliser courtesy of Zitha Kwinika’s header which left the Glamour Boys in 14th place in the DStv Premiership table.

Zwane says their opponents didn’t pose any danger apart from the goal they scored and his side should have done better in the final third with the several goal-scoring chances they had.

‘WE JUST COULDN’T GET IT RIGHT’

“Ja look it’s one of the days where for me we gave away points again, it was there for the taking, though we didn’t have a good game,” Zwane said as quoted by KickOff.com.

“I think first-half we started slow, we picked up, I think in ten minutes we had a one v one situation with Sekgota and then from then, from a pass in the middle.

“That one player made a run from deep and four of our players just standing and we always say when there’s no pressure on the ball it’s an open centre.

“And none of them [put pressure on the ball] and the ball hit Zitha’s knee, then it fell on the path of Otladisa [Makudubela] and they punished us and that’s the only thing I remember that they have done in this game.

“That’s why I say it was there for the taking, we planned, we knew, we said let them have the ballin front of us, not many of them will go on direct runs, only that one when you look at the entire 90 minutes.

“Maybe another one where they looked dangerous but not from a similar. But you knw this is one game, how many box entries did we have in the second-half, even before they got a red-card?

“We had box entries but again poor decision-making in the final third, which is something we have been working on ever since we started training, composure inside the box and pick one player.

“We just couldn’t get it right and we had to score froma deadball situation which is something that I’m happy about because we have also not been getting our deadball situations right, so maybe that will help us to gain confidence in terms of deadball situations.

“But apart from that, other than the goal they scored that we gave them they didn’t pose any danger.”

In other news, Zwane criticised the club’s new signing Ashley du Preez following the draw with Gallants.

‘10111’ says the former Stellenbosch FC forward couldn’t grasp the instruction from the bench after the introduction of striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyima in the second half.

ZWANE CRITICAL OF DU PREEZ

“We had to change the formation, we had to push everyone forward, especially create width and have depth with Caleb now upfront,” Zwane said as quoted by iDiski Times.

“But I don’t think Ashley [Du Preez] understood what we wanted him to do, we said when Caleb goes, don’t follow him, just stay in the pockets, you going to get those balls free there and that’s why we had to bring on Sebelo [Radebe], Sabelo understands those pockets.

“But also he wanted to carry the ball, sometimes when he doesn’t carry the ball, he just kicks the ball forward and it’s unlike him.

“Like I’ve been saying it’s a work in progress we know we going to get it right but I’m obviously disappointed, today we deserved better even though we did not play well.

“We should have done better in terms of converting, though we didn’t have clear-cut chances but we had numbers inside the box, we just had to pick one and score, just like we scored from a dead-ball situation.”
