It has already been confirmed that striker Ranga Chivaviro will be heading to Chiefs from Marumo Gallants, although there could be another twist to this tale considering that Richards Bay seem to insist that the forward had signed a pre-contract with them.

Before coming back to that story, though, it’s now reported that Chiefs have seized the opportunity to sign big-name South American player Edson Castillo.

Back in January, the agent of the former Caracas midfielder was said to have offered the Venezuelan international to the Glamour Boys, but nothing came of it.

Yet, according to FAR Post back in March, Chiefs were considering having another look at the experienced 29-year-old, who rejoined Monagas SC in his home country after any Chiefs move failed to materialise.

It’s now believed that Amakhosi have successfully secured this signing on a two-year deal with another one year option. He is apparently set to arrive in South Africa next week.

Chivaviro on his way to Chiefs

As previously reported by iDiski Times, Chivaviro had joined Marumo Gallants prior to the start of last season. He then was said to have signed a pre-contract with Richards Bay.

Yet Gallants had the option to extend his contract, which they duly did, rendering his pre-contract null and void. It was further suggested that another twist to the tale came when Gallants apparently agreed to a transfer fee to Pirates as part of a double deal that involved Katlego Otladisa, who is set to head to the Buccaneers.

Nevertheless, it’s suggested that the experienced striker was not keen on a move to Pirates where he felt game-time would be limited, and instead he preferred a move Chiefs.

That move to Amakhosi has now been completed, with talks having proven to be successful between the various parties.

After scoring 17 goals from 30 appearances in all competitions this season, several clubs have reportedly shown interest in Chivaviro, but the 30-year is believed to have turned down other lucrative offers in order to head to Naturena.
