AmaZulu reshuffle technical team, Folz handed new role!

AmaZulu have announced changes to their technical team with coach Romain Folz handed a new role within the club.

In a statement released on Tuesday, AmaZulu confirmed Ayanda Dlamini as the interim coach while Folz was named the technical director.

According to the same statement, Folz’s role will be to advise president Sandile Zungu on the aspects of AmaZulu’s vision 2032.

The changes are effective immediately until the end of the current season, AmaZulu’s statement further revealed.

Zungu has finally admitted that football is results-orientated and that AmaZulu have not achieved that under Folz.

Folz, 32, is NOT expected to interfere with the day to day running of the team as well as the selection of matchday squads.

AMAZULU PRESIDENT SANDILE ZUNGU ON TECHNICAL TEAM CHANGES

“The game is result driven and with six matches to go occupying 12th position, it is clear the performance is not fitting of a club like AmaZulu Football Club,” said Zungu to the club’s website.

“The decision we have taken is to appoint Ayanda Dlamini as caretaker Coach until the end of the season. His mandate is to fight for the remaining 18 points that are on offer.”

“Dlamini has the huge task to prepare the team for the upcoming match against Cape Town City this weekend.”

“With Folz, there are many aspects that we want to continue with from him. I have retained him as a technical director, primarily to advise the President on the technical aspects of vision 2032 until the end of the season.”

“He will be expected not to interfere with the day to day running of the team. We thank him for his contribution to the team,” said Zungu.

AMAZULU RECENTLY OFFERED FOLZ A NEW THREE-YEAR DEAL

AmaZulu recently handed Folz a new three-year deal despite the team’s below-par performances under his watch.

And the decision to redeploy Folz stems from the fact that AmaZulu lost 1-0 to Swallows FC this past weekend; the game where George Maluleka collapased on the pitch.

Folz was in charge of 19 competitive matches for AmaZulu. He won four, lost six and drew nine.
