AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu has confirmed that the players will be rewarded for their hard work at the end of the season.

AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu has confirmed that the players will be rewarded for their hard work at the end of the season.

In a press conference held on Thursday, Zungu revealed that the club will hold its first ever end-of-season awards this year.

AmaZulu have never had player awards in the past but Zungu is looking to change the game altogether and show appreciation to the players.

Furthermore, Zungu said he plans to have the ceremony broadcast live on Television.  

Benni McCarthy’s boys have punched well above their weight this season, and the former Bafana Bafana striker has been applauded for AmaZulu’s revival.

McCarthy came in when Usuthu were in the bottom half of the PSL table with just seven points from their opening six matches.

But his arrival saw AmaZulu pick up a whopping 43 points and become title rivals to defending league champions Mamelodi Sundowns this season.

As things stand, AmaZulu are second on the PSL log with 50 points and they are four points behind Sundowns who have a game in hand.

In addition, Usuthu recently scooped the Q-Innovation prize money, walking away with R1.5 million for their efforts.
