Royal AM CEO Sinky Mnisi caused a huge stir on social media after he seemed to contest the legitimacy of Solomons’ move to Chiefs.

Solomons one of three Swallows players to sign for Chiefs

Solomons was unveiled as one of six new signings by Chiefs on Monday night, alongside two of his former Swallows teammates. The likes of tricky winger Kamohelo Mahlatsi as well as midfielder George Matlou joined the versatile player in moving to from the Dube Birds to Amakhosi after the latter had managed to keep their DStv Premiership status.

His name will still be fresh in the minds of the Chiefs faithful too, as Solomons was on hand to score two penalties against Amakhosi in the final game of the DStv Premiership season. Those two goals were almost enough to secure the top flight status of Swallows but they would eventually lose out on that automatic safety, as Bernard Parker scored his final goal for the club to equalise.

Deal was always on the cards after playoffs

That equaliser then sent Swallows to the promotion/relegation playoffs which seemed to be the reason any potential move for Solomons to Chiefs may have been delayed. Nieuwenhuys did, however, confirm at the time that there were more clubs interested in the player than Amakhosi. Nieuwenhuys also went further to state that the player’s future will be resolved soon after the recently concluded playoffs.

True to his word, Solomons was unveiled as a Chiefs players just over a week later. All of that joy and happiness was then placed in jeopardy by Mnisi who seemed to have questioned the situation surrounding the signing of the player, in a possible hint that Royal AM had, themselves, managed to get an agreement with the player.

Mnisi’s statement

“I think there will be a story unfolding involving Dillan Solomons, watch this space. Due processes will be followed. There are no fights, we are not in a boxing ring. All I said about Dillan Solomons is that we must allow the process to unfold” Mnisi said while Speaking to Andile Ncube on Sports Night Amplified.

Nieuwenhuys was then quickly called upon to provide clarity on Solomons’ contract situation with Chiefs and it seems like there won’t be any disputes after all, if his word is to be taken.

Nieuwenhuys clarifies matters

“There’s nothing to take serious from our side, how can [you suggest] you signed the player when we’ve represented Dillan (Solomons) for seven years, we never got a call from them, this must have been a thing from club to club but we never sat with Royal AM,” he said on Tuesday evening. Chiefs did the right thing, followed the right protocol, I mean we got more calls from [Orlando] Pirates and never a call from Royal AM. So how can you sign a player you never spoke to? It’s not fair and we will protect Dillan because you disrupting his focus now.” Nieuwenhuys said to iDiskiTimes.

Nieuwenhuys then went on to explain that the agency will not allow the shine to be taken of Solomons’ monumental career moment.

Player will be protected at all costs

“It’s the biggest move of his career thus far and now this is not fair, they need to fight the battles with whoever they dealt with but they definitely didn’t deal with GN Sports Agency who represents the boy. It’s not fair at all. I can confirm 200% they never contacted us, I don’t know who they spoke to at Swallows or whoever, but definitely not to us.” He concluded.

It now remains to be seen if this Solomons saga will end here, or Royal AM will engage in a legal battle before the start of the season.
