The PSL results from Tuesday night’s Absa Premiership might raise a few eyebrows. It certainly wasn’t business as expected with powerhouses Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates both dropping points.

Rodney Ramagalela scored twice for Polokwane City to hand them a 1-2 win over title favourites Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versveld. George Lebese’s 56th-minute penalty was the only consolation for Pitso Mosimane’s men.

Orlando Pirates, meanwhile, are still searching for their first win over Baroka FC. It was yet another draw between the two sides with Thabo Qalinge finding the back of the net for the Sea Robbers in the 41th minute and  Hassan Banda squaring things up in the 73rd minute.

Chippa United bounced back from defeat in the opening weekending, winning 2-0 at home to AmaZulu. Abel Mabaso and Moeketsi Sekola were the scorers in a match where AmaZulu never really clicked.

It’s early days in the season, so you can’t really read too much into the results, but if the fixtures we’ve seen so far, we’re in for a tense PSL season.

Here are Tuesday night’s PSL results

Mamelodi Sundowns 1-2 Polokwane City
Baroka FC 1-1 Orlando Pirates
Chippa United 2-0 AmaZulu FC

The action continues on Wednesday with another round of fixtures. Head over here to check out the PSL fixtures for 23 August.
