Mamelodi Sundowns’ new defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil has revealed his local and continental ambitions after joining the Tshwane giants.

New Mamelodi Sundowns defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil has revealed his local and continental ambitions after joining the Tshwane giants.

The 24-year-old centre-back has become the first ever Morrocan player to ply his trade in the Premier Soccer League, joining from the Botola Pro side SCC Mohammédia.

Boutouil penned a three-year deal with an option to extend for two years with Masandawana, becoming their seventh arrival this transfer window after Ronwen Williams, Sipho Mbule, Marcelo Allende, Bongani Zungu, Abubeker Nasir and Terrence Mashego.

Speaking for the first time after joining the club, Boutouil expressed his biggest ambition is to win the CAF Champions League with Bafana Ba Style.

BOUTOUIL BREAKS SILENCE ON SUNDOWNS MOVE

“I am feeling very happy to join one of the biggest clubs in Africa, Mamelodi Sundowns,” he told Mamelodi Sundowns’ website.

“My goal is to win all the local cups in the PSL and what’s very important for me and for the club is winning the Champions League.

“I am the first Moroccan player to come play in South Africa, [therefore] I am here to represent my country as a Sundowns player.”

Boutouil was part of the Morocco squad that won the prestigious 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) title in Cameroon.

He has had loan spells with the likes of Royale Union Saint-Gilloise and Raja Casablanca before he returned to his parent club, Mohammédia.
