Pitso Mosimane pens heartfelt letter after shock Al Ahly exit – READ IN FULL

Now former Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has written a heartfelt letter thanking the Egyptian side’s board and fans for his time at the club.

On Monday – as reported by The South African website – Al Ahly sensationally confirmed Mosimane’s exit with immediate effect.

The news came just three months after the 57-year-old tactician penned a no doubt lucrative two-year extension to his contract.

Mosimane left Mamelodi Sundowns in September 2020 to take up the Al Ahly job.

Pitso Mosimane won 5 titles at Al Ahly

In just 20 months at the helm, Pitso Mosimane guided Al Ahly to no fewer than FIVE major trophies, winning the Egypt Cup (2019/20), CAF Champions League (2019/20, 2020/21) and CAF Super Cup (2020, 2021).

He also picked up a bronze medal at the Club World Cup.

Mosimane fell short of winning a third consecutive CAF Champions League title last month, losing 2-0 to Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club in the final which was controversially held in Casablanca, Morocco.

“The warmth and love we were welcomed with made us feel already at home. Although we felt pressure as we were joining the Club of the Century, we knew that we were sent to Cairo for a reason. That reason was to deliver,” Mosimane wrote in his three-page letter.

Mosimane made special mention of his mandate at Al Ahly and how he delivered on it.
