Pitso’s message to Tau on injuries: Pray a lot!

Coach Pitso Mosimane has notably shared some special words of encouragement with his former player Percy Tau.

Back in December, injury-prone Tau suffered a hamstring strain while in action for Al Ahly, and he has had to spend another period out of action.

For the talented player, the last couple of years have dished up challenge after challenge on the injury front, which has essentially threatened to derail his promising career.

Tau’s mentor Pitso Mosimane has now taken to Twitter to once again share words of positive reinforcement at the start of a new year.

“Top player. I wish 2023 keeps you away from injuries. Don’t worry too much, you are still a quality player to be playing at [a] high level. Just pray a lot,” said Mosimane.

Interestingly, according to FAR Post, Sundowns could have reignited interest in Tau, who famously played for the club between 2013 and 2018.

During his time with Sundowns, Tau won the league title twice and the CAF Champions League once, and was named Footballer of the Year and joint-top-goalscorer in his final season with the club.

REPORT: CHIEFS COACH’S JOB NOT ON THE LINE … YET

According to the latest report, a reunion could be back on the cards, with a January transfer not even out of the question at a time when Al Ahly could be prepared to let Tau go after ongoing struggles with injury.

“Percy’s agent was at Chloorkop, and it would appear there are talks ongoing,” the FAR Post source is quoted as saying.

Notably, the 28-year-old recently posted a picture of himself on Instagram, carrying a backpack, and Sundowns midfielder Bongani Zungi quickly responded to say: “Patiently waiting”

TAU HAS BEEN LINKED WITH SUNDOWNS, AS WELL AS AN EXIT FROM AL AHLY IN THE PAST

For a large part of last year, Tau had already been at the centre of numerous Al Ahly exit rumours, and at one stage it almost seemed certain that he was set to leave the Egyptian club – partly due to his injury struggles.

Back in August, Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena spoke proudly of Tau, and suggested the Brazilians would consider bringing him back to Chloorkop if it was a suitable move for all parties.

“He’s my son. My son knows that his father loves him, and we have come a long way,” Mokwena said back then. “And if there’s a chance to return to SA, then, like with Bongani Zungu, that would be something we’d explore.”

However, it ultimately seemed that he was likely to remain in Egypt, and yet it’s now quite possible that Tau has reached another key crossroad in his career.
