Mosimane has been linked with many jobs since leaving Al Ahly but is yet to commit his future to any club as it stands.

Mosimane enjoyed success at Al Ahly

Mosimane joined Al Ahly in 2020 and had enjoyed success both in the local Egyptian league as well as the CAF Champions League. ‘Jingles’ as he is affectionally known, led the Red Devils to their first Champions League final in seven years during his first year at the club. He would then go on to lead them to three consecutive finals, winning two of those in the process. He also led the side to back-to-back CAF Super Cup trophies.

Internationally, Mosimane led Al Ahly to a record two consecutive FIFA Club World Cup bronze medals and then locally he led the side to an Egypt Cup and an Egyptian Super Cup. Even through a rocky spell this season, the club seemed to back the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach by rewarding him with a lucrative new contract. The blemishes on the mentor’s name came with the 2-0 Champions League final loss to Wydad Casablanca and furthermore, a tough run of results in the league.

Reports of interest

Straight after that, reports were streaming in saying that Mosimane had offers in the Middle East that he was seriously considering. Even though it was made to sound like a potential new appointment was imminent, but if what he has said to KAYA959 is anything to go by? It does not look like he is in a rush to return to football.

He gives an update on his future

“I’m happy to take a break. I’m happy to wake up at 11 am and I’m happy that I’m not accountable to anybody at this point in time. I’ll get back to coaching when I feel like I want to go back,Sometimes you have to take a step back. Big coaches like Pep Guardiola have done that. Carlo Ancelotti has done that. Zinedine Zidane has done that. He won three Champions League titles but he’s not coaching now.” Said Mosimane on his future.

With that being said, it seems as if Mosimane has his sights more on a break rather than committing his future to another club.
