Following a five-star performance against Swallows, the experts have called for Monnapule Saleng to be considered among the best this season.

Saleng is now only the third player in Pirates’ PSL history to score a league hat-trick away from home. He joined Pollen Ndlanya (2002 vs AmaZulu) and Gabadinho Mhango (2020 vs Polokwane City) in the record books.

In the process Saleng moved into third place in the race for the PSL Golden Boot award as he now has eight goals.

The Pirates star is just one short of current joint leaders Peter Shalulile (Mamelodi Sundowns) and Bradley Grobler (SuperSport United).

Big win for Pirates

The Buccaneers produced a complete performance in their 4-1 win in the Original Derby at Dobsonville Stadium. It was a great comeback after losing the Soweto Derby 1- to Kaizer Chiefs last weekend.

The Buccaneers’ win over their oldest rivals means they are on track to fight for second place. Pirates and Chiefs are two points behind SuperSport United with only eight games to go.

The next game is ironically against SuperSport who need to visit the Orlando Stadium on 18 March. That game will kick off at 15:30 and have significant consequences should one team escape with all three points

Orlando Pirates XI: Chaine, Xoki, Mthethwa, Mako, Makhaula (Motshwari 85’), Timm, Saleng, Hotto, Dlamini (Erasmus 73’), Lorch (Marou 73’), Dzvukamanja.
