Eagle-eyed Kaizer Chiefs fans have spotted a very interesting post from Bafana Bafana international Bongani Zungu

Furthermore, fans are almost convinced that it is a hint that Zungu could be joining Chiefs in the not too distant future.

Zungu has been heavily linked with Chiefs

Zungu has been linked with Chiefs for the past two or three transfer windows now, with reports suggesting that the Soweto giants were actively pursuing his services during the previous transfer window. However, any such deal was always going to prove to be difficult for the Amakhosi to do, as “Ben 10” as he is affectionally known, was and still is under contract, albeit for only the next six months now.

It is also thought that Zungu’s first preference had his wish to leave Amiens been granted, would’ve been to stay in Europe and move to a decent league to reignite and rejuvenate his career. Now, however, like the majority of Chiefs’ reported target, Zungu will be able to sign for any team that is interested in his services on a free transfer. That is where one would expect Chiefs to re-enter the frame.

Amakhosi’s track record with bringing back Bafana internationals

Chiefs have shown in the past that they are able to offer very competitive packages that can lure back South African players from clubs abroad. The likes of Bernard Parker, Siboniso Gaxa, Tshepo Masilela and most recently, Keagan Dolly are an example of deals that depict the financial muscle of Amakhosi. Those deals also then suggest that they should have enough funds to offer Zungu a decent package that could entice him to return to the country.

The post

Zungu is now able to speak to all interested parties, including Chiefs should they wish to engage. Having already stated multiple times that he will not stay at Amiens, he has now posted a rather cryptic post with current Chiefs coach and former Bafana Bafana mentor Stuart Baxter on his Instagram story, captioned “Throwback” with a South African flag and the famous Chiefs peace sign next to it.

Now it could just signal Zungu missing being on Bafana Bafana duty, and the peace sign being a regular emoji he likes to use, but why a picture with Baxter and a peace sign out of all pictures on national team duty? Especially at a time he has been heavily linked to Chiefs and with him now finally being able to speak to other clubs?
