Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau could reportedly leave Egyptian giants Al Ahly and return to Anderlecht in Belgium in the current transfer window.

Tau had completed a permanent transfer to Al Ahly from English Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion last season on a three-year contract.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a good start to life in Egypt, scoring eight goals and providing six assists in 28 matches for Al Ahly in all competitions.

However, he has found the going far tougher in recent months having not scored or assisted in the various Egyptians domestic competitions since November 2021.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns striker has also seen the man who brought him to Al Ahly, Pitso Mosimane, leave the club.

According to a report by Voetbalbelgie, Percy Tau could be departing Al Ahly in the current transfer window with a return to Belgium on the cards.

Percy Tau is no stranger to Belgian football

Anderlecht are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Tau, as well as Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Fabio Silva.

Tau is no stranger to Belgian football having had spells at both Club Brugge and Union SG in the past while spending a season-long loan at Anderlecht a year prior to his transfer from Brighton to Al Ahly.

Apart from having played 102 matches in all competitions for Mamelodi Sundowns and 28 for Al Ahly, Percy Tau has represented Union SG on 35 occasions, Club Brugge (30), Anderlecht (14) and Brighton & Hove Albion (6).

With just eight matches remaining in the Egyptian Premier League, Al Ahly are in third place, a full eight points behind defending champions Zamalek, although Al Ahly do have a match in hand.

Al Ahly are four points behind second-placed Pyramids, also having played one fewer match.

Al Ahly will next be in action at home against eighth-placed Pharco on Tuesday, 2 August at 21:00 (SA time).
