Percy Tau misses a penalty in Al Ahly’s 1-0 win over Al Ittihad

The pressure on Bafana Bafana attacker Percy Tau continues to mount at Al Ahly after Wednesday’s league encounter against Al Ittihad Alexandria Club.

Tau was named in Pitso Mosimane’s starting line-up on the night, and in the 17th minute, Al Ahly won a penalty with the scoreline at 0-0.

Tau stepped up to take the resulting penalty, but he missed, and thus, putting more pressure on himself and his team.

While a different coach would have substituted Tau to perhaps protect him from the wrath of the fans, Mosimane kept the left-footer on the pitch for the entire game.

The 27-year-old did not seem to be bothered by the missed penalty as he continued to work hard for Al Ahly.

Al Ahly would score via Luis Miquissone in the 35th minute, and that goal proved to be the difference as Mosimane’s men held on to it to record a 1-0 win.

AL AHLY MAINTAIN TOP SPOT, REMAIN UNBEATEN IN THE LEAGUE

The narrow win was enough for Al Ahly to maintain their top spot in the Egyptian Premier League after 11 games played this season.

Al Ahly have recorded 10 wins and a single draw in the 11 games – Mosimane’s charges are three points clear of defending champions Zamalek.

As things stand, Al Ahly are on 31 points, and they have found the back of the net on 31 occasions while Zamalek are on 28 points with 25 goals scored.
