Hlongwane’s performances for both Maritzburg United and Bafana Bafana have not gone unnoticed, with the 21-year-old reportedly attracting interest from Europe, as well as PSL powerhouses Mamelodi Sundowns, Pirates and Chiefs.

A clear favourite of veteran German mentor Ernst Middendorp at Maritzburg, Hlongwane has very rarely let him down with his performances for the Team of Choice.

Speaking to the press, Kadodia has now revealed that the striker is set to move overseas at the end of the season.

“There is interest but we haven’t confirmed anything yet. Once we are happy and the player is happy [something can happen],” Kadodia said on Tuesday.

“The player is determined to go overseas to Europe. He doesn’t want to go to a local club.

“It all depends if the offer is right. But whatever we do both parties should be happy, the club and the player.”

“We have had enquiries. Obviously his representatives would want to do a deal because for the agent there is money in it.

“We wouldn’t like to let the player go until the end of the season. Again, that all depends on the kind of negotiations we are in.”

Interest in Hlongwane has not slowed down

The speedy forward who is comfortable playing anywhere across the front three, has not only become an undisputed starter for his club, but has also quickly emerged as one of the best youngsters in the DStv Premiership.

Soccer Laduma reported back in June that Mamelodi Sundowns were the likely favourites to land the striker, but despite the two clubs apparently holding a verbal agreement on the forward, it appears that instead a move overseas will now almost certainly materialise.

According to Soccer Laduma, sources have indicated that with the MLS transfer window opening in February, a potential move to America could even come to fruition if it is well received by Maritzburg.
