All rise for Orlando Pirates! The Soweto giants are in the CAF Confederation Cup final. Thanks to a 2-1 aggregate win over Libya’s Al Ahly Tripoli.

Despite a disappointing 1-0 loss, the job had been down last weekend in North Africa where Bucs took home a 2-0 victory.

ORLANDO PIRATES PUT ONE FOOT IN THE CAF CONFEDERATION FINAL

As the South African reported last week, the Buccaneers claimed the fabulous semi-final first leg result in Tripoli, courtesy of goals from Goodman Mosele and Innocent Maela.

BIG CASH AT STAKE

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates are now at least 90 minutes away from winning the biggest ever prize money in the club’s history. According to CAF, as confirmed by Kick Off, the prize money for this season’s champions is no less than $1.3 million, which is R20 million.

“Lifting the CAF Confederation Cup comes with a winners’ cheque of USD1,25 million (approximately R20,156 million) while the runners-up walk away with USD625 000 (approximately R10,078 million),” the outlet confirmed.

Additionally, Pirates could still pocket a further R3 million.

“Should The Bucs win the Confederation Cup, then they will contest for the USD200 000 (approximately R3,2 million) worth CAF Super Cup once-off final on August 5-7.”

So who will the five-time PSL champions face in the final? The name is RS Berkane and they’re from Morocco. The game will be played in Nigeria on Friday 20 May in Uyo, Nigeria.
