Orlando Pirates were campaigning in the CAF Confederation Cup this season, and they crashed out in the quarter-finals on Sunday.

The Buccaneers were hammered 4-0 by Raja Casablanca on the day to eventually go down 5-1 on aggregate having played to a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

Now, for their efforts in the CAF Confederation Cup, Pirates secured a $350 000 which is around R4.9 million in prize money.

Of course, it’s not much compared to what both Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns will get from their participation in the CAF Champions League.

Chiefs are guaranteed R12.4 million for reaching the semi-finals while Sundowns will pocket R9.5 for bowing out in the quarter-finals.

However, Pirates will try and use the R4.9 million secured wisely, especially when trying to bolster their squad for next season.
