Former Orlando Pirates coach set for top job in China

A former Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits coach could soon move to China if media reports in the country are anything to go by.

A former Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits coach could soon move to China if media reports in the country are anything to go by.

Roger de Sa is tipped to follow Carlos Queroz who is touted as the next national team coach of China after reportedly agreeing terms with their Football Association.

According to Chinese publication, c.m.163.com, Queroz and his backroom staff have accepted the offer to coach China.

The publication reports that Queiroz’s asking salary was lower than the rest of the candidates he entered the race with for the plum job.

Should that be the case, Queiroz is most likely to rope in De Sa as his assistant as this was the case when both Egypt and Iran hired him.

“Queiroz and his staff have accepted the offer of the Chinese Football Association to coach the national team of the country and are going to take the path of coaching this Asian team,” reads the report.

“Queiroz’s requested salary is not a big figure among the candidates to lead the Chinese team.”
