Orlando Pirates head into the CAF Confederation Cup final against RSB Berkane on Saturday with two familiar faces from their previous final in 2015.

This will the Buccaneers’ first CAF Confed Cup final since their maiden appearance in 2015 when they went 2-1 down to Etoile du Sahel after two legs.

The first leg which was played at Orlando Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw but Pirates would lose 1-0 away from home in the return leg.

Pirates will now have the second bite on the cherry when take on Berkane in a single legged final to be played in Uyo, Nigeria on Friday, 20 May.

Kick-off at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium is at 21:00 SA time.

While this is a whole new experience for the majority of players in the current squad, there are two men who understand the difficulty of the task at hand.

In fact that there are THREE if one includes goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane – but the former Platinum Stars men wasn’t registered for the competition.

Mpontshane arrived at the start of 2015 from Stars, and at the time, Pirates had already registered 30 players for the competition.

The two goalkeepers Pirates had for the competition were Brighton Mhlongo and Philani Zikalala – the duo have since left the Soweto giants.

Jele has been with Pirates since 2006 when he joined as a young defender from Walter Stars – and he was in the thick of things during the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

Orlando Pirates can claim second spot in the DStv Premiership standings with a win against Swallows in a Soweto derby on Tuesday.

Before then, Jele was instrumental in Pirates reaching the CAF Champions League final in 2013, meaning this will be the skipper’s third continental final.

NTSIKELELO NYAUZA

Nyauza arrived at Pirates in 2013 from Platinum Stars but he was loaned out to Roses United in the First Division the same year.

The now 32-year-old defender was brought back in 2014, and a year later, Nyauza was part of the Pirates squad that pushed all the way to the CAF Confederation Cup final.
