Orlando Pirates pocket millions after CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final progression

Orlando Pirates have advanced to the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals. Here’s how much they’ve earned.

PSL giants Orlando Pirates are 2021/22 CAFCC quarter-finalists, thanks to a 2-0 win over JS Soura on Sunday night at the Stade Olympique 5 Juillet 1962, Algeria.

The 1995 CAF Champions League winners have just earned over R5 million.

ORLANDO PIRATES ADVANCE TO CAF CONFEDERATION QUARTER-FINALS

As The South African reported late on Sunday evening, the Buccaneers traveled to North Africa knowing that victory could seal a last-eight spot with a game to spare.

Orlando Pirates indeed grabbed all three points, thanks to two first-half-goals from Ntsikelelo Nyauza and Kabelo Dlamini.

Meanwhile, the Soweto giants still have a final game to play in the group. Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids’ side the group’s second-placed side Al-lltihad at the Orlando Pirates on 3 April.

We can expect that game to be an opportunity for Orlando Pirates’ squad players to get a run, including youngsters to get a feel of CAF football.

HOW MUCH MONEY BUCS EARNED WITH QUARTER-FINAL PROGRESSION

With every advancement in a tournament comes a higher earning amount for the club, especially the CAF competitions. 

According to CAF, Orlando Pirates’ qualification to the quarter-final on Sunday night meant an earning of US$350,000, which is R5.3 million.

Meanwhile, Bucs’ next game will be after the FIFA break against Al-Ittihad followed by Sekhukhune United in the PSL.
