Former Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs head coach Kosta Papic has issued stern advice to misfiring Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siphelele Ntshangase.

Ntshangase has made just 33 appearances since joining Kaizer Chiefs in 2018, 22 of which a starting berth and his former coach Papic believes attractions away from the football pitch is hampering the highly talented midfielder.

Ntshangase flourished under the management of Kosta Papic at Black Leopards in 2015 however the Serbian manager believes the Kaizer Chiefs playmaker has failed to deliver on the massive amount of potential he once showed.

Ntshangase needs to forget about alcohol and women – Papic

Kosta Papic has urged his former player Siphelele Ntshangase to start focusing on his football if he wants to make it to the very top following two highly underwhelming seasons at Kaizer Chiefs.

“The womanizing, drinking and going out at nights to party… First salary goes towards a car, second salary goes towards another car and the third salary goes towards a third car. The fourth salary maybe goes to the mother or father.” Kosta Papic told Marawa Moments.

“When you wearing the Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates jersey, you think you are reaching cloud nine. When you walk in the streets, you believe everybody knows you. You sign an autograph and take a selfie more than any time in your life.

“This affects the brain. Ntshangase became a star without even touching the ball. If he stops thinking about those things and concentrates on football, and only football, he’s going to be the player of the season. In that case Gavin Hunt will give him the chance. When he starts to play football, not for the fans or girlfriends, for himself and Kaizer Chiefs! Then you will see what he’s capable of.”

Stash being remembered for all the wrong reasons

Siphelele ‘Stash’ Ntshangase joined Kaizer Chiefs with high hopes of becoming a club legend at the mighty Amakhosi however two years later and the playmaker is yet to command a starting position due to what Papic has explained as ill discipline.

“Humility is important in everything that you do,” Ntshangase told IOL back in 2018 after joining Kaizer Chiefs.

“I respect them as legends of the club. But what I want to achieve in my time at Chiefs is to make sure everyone remembers my surname.

“I am not saying it’s all about me. Obviously the team comes first, but when I have retired, I want to ensure I leave a legacy that will see my name also mentioned among the club’s legends for what I did and not what I could do.”

It remains to be seen whether Siphelele Ntshangase will go on to live up to his potential however if one thing is for sure, the former Black Leopards midfielder will be given a full shot at proving his worth this season under Gavin Hunt given the club’s transfer ban and lack of midfield depth.
