The veteran defender has had his fair share of injury battles and has seen limited game time this season. But he could have one major part to play and that is centring on Chiefs’ interest in TS Galaxy star Given Msimango.
The 25-year-old defender has gathered interest from both Chiefs and rivals Orlando Pirates as the season draws to a close. It means that if Mathoho agrees to join The Rockets, then Chiefs could use those talks to land Msimango.
It would a huge boost to Chiefs and coach Arthur Zwane ahead of the new campaign even if he will miss Mathoho and his class.
“TS Galaxy is aware of the interest in Msimango and that’s why the club is having plans to sign Mathoho,” the relevant source confirmed to SoccerLaduma.
Msimango is the current captain of TS Galaxy and one of the most consistent performers this season. It seems like an ideal replacement for Mathoho, who made his name clearing headers and tackling hard.
