Marumo Gallants to play CAF Confed Cup football AGAIN next season

Marumo Gallants will AGAIN be competing in the CAF Confed Cup next season despite their 2-1 loss to Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup final.

Marumo Gallants will AGAIN be competing in the CAF Confederation Cup next season despite their 2-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup final.

Dan Malesela’s charges put in a gallant performance against the champions in the 120 minutes of football played in Rustenburg on Saturday.

Gallants qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup by virtue of reaching the Nedbank Cup final because Sundowns had already qualified for next season’s CAF Champions League.

ANOTHER AFRICAN SAFARI FOR MARUMO GALLANTS

Last season, Gallants had their first taste of continental football after winning the previous Nedbank Cup final at the expense of Chippa United.

However, they crashed out in the second round, losing 1-0 on aggregate to African giants TP Mazembe who were strong favourites at the time.

For Malesela, this will also be the second time that he leads a team in the CAF Confederation Cup after doing so with TS Galaxy in 2020.

Gallants will be joined in the competition by whoever finishes third between Royal AM and Orlando Pirates.

Royal AM are already third on the log with 47 points from 30 games but they can be dethroned by Pirates who are on 44 points after 29 games.
