Former AmaZulu marksman, Emiliano Tade has drawn high praise from his new mentor, having scored within 10 minutes of his Mamelodi Sundowns debut on Friday night.

The striker signed for the Brazilians on Wednesday, after impressing in his short spell with the Durban-based outfit, drawing interest from Downs’ coach Pitso Mosimane, who made no secret of his desire to bring him over to the country capital.

The Tshwane giants have done some successful scouting in South America, with Uruguay’s Gaston Sirino and Brazilian defender Ricardo Nascimento both staking claim to regular starting places, along with Jose Ali Meza, who hails from Venezuela, in the fringes.

They have unlocked yet another frontier in Argentine striker, Emiliano Tade, who signed on from Usuthu in the dying moments of the January transfer window.

His immediate impact on the side – which has struggled to make up for departures of both Percy Tau and Khama Billiat – was felt by Mosimane, who was quick to sing the player’s praises.

“He comes with a lot of experience and a lot of goals. The most important aspect is to fit in the team,” Mosimane said.

Tade introduced himself to the Sundowns faithful in fine style, bagging the last goal in their 3-1 win over ASEC Mimosas on Friday night.

“You can’t ask for more from Emiliano. Ten minutes on the pitch and he looks like he has been playing for Sundowns for long, never mind the goal,” continued Mosimane.

“He is composed, and he knows how to play football. He is a typical South American. What a way of introducing yourself to the team!”

Sundowns next turn their attention to league action, where they are due to face Black Leopards on Wednesday night.

The defending champions are third on the PSL log, a point behind second-placed Orlando Pirates and six behind log-leaders Bidvest Wits.
