Manchester United Harry Maguire is more likely to play fewer games for the remainder of the season following his poor showing against Sevilla last week.

The United captain carelessly gave the ball away just outside his own box to allow the home team to take the lead in the early stages of the game.

Maguire’s mistake proved costly as the Red Devils were handed a 3-0 defeat and dumped out of the Europa Cup quarter-final.

The 30-year-old was suspended for Manchester United’s FA Cup semi-final win against Brighton on Sunday which United won 7-6 on penalties after the game finished 0-0 after extra time.

Coach Eric Ten Hag selected Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw in defence at Wembley and it paid off.  The duo managed to deal with Brighton’s attacking lineup effortlessly and are likely to be paired often as the Red Devils look to secure top 4 finish.

Under Ten Hag, United have been impressive managing to win the Carabao Cup this season, and are on course to win a double should they get one over their ciy rivals Manchester City.

The two face off in the FA Cup final in June but for now, United’s goal is to finish in the top four which will allow them to play Champions League football next season.
