Reports coming out of Ghana had recently suggested that striker Kwame Peprah may well opt to leave Orlando Pirates in the upcoming transfer window as some talk suggested this could serve him best in pursuit of representing the Black Stars at the FIFA World Cup.

However, it seems that the opposite may well be true, and that he in fact feels remaining with Pirates will suit him best in the long-term.

Peprah himself has addressed these rumours, and suggested exit talk may well be premature.

“At the moment I’m a player for Orlando Pirates, I’m also concentrated on the field of play,” Peprah recently told JoySports

“When it comes to offers and those stuff, I think my management will handle that. Even if there is a good offer, my management will sit down with the club and also consult my current club which is Orlando Pirates.

“Then if the two parties get along together with the offer, then they think there is going to be a move, why not? For the moment I’m a player for Orlando Pirates.”

In an article by KickOff.com on Thursday, it’s also reported that although Libyan club Al Ahli Tripoli have been at the forefront of trying to secure the services of Peprah along with several other overseas clubs, he is not about to be tempted away from Soweto.

“There were clubs keen on Kwame and went as far as approaching Pirates, but their offers were not worth it so far,” a source commented. “Kwame has ambitions of breaking into the World Cup squad and knows that his best chance of making that happen is by staying at Pirates.

“He needs to be scoring goals at the club and the plus with the PSL is that it is visible in Ghana on DStv. There are going to be challenges if he moves to a new environment during a World Cup year, so it is best he continues at Pirates where he already has a start.”

Pirates are undergoing a rebuilding phase

Last month, Pirates confirmed the signing of four more players as the Buccaneers continue squad planning for next season.
