Keanu Baccus has reportedly earned himself a six-figure move to Hungarian giants Ferencvaros from Australian A-League side Western Sydney.

Keanu, who is the younger brother of Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Kearyn, is also a midfielder himself, who is equally comfortable playing as a full-back. He is known to be comfortable on the ball and backs his technical ability, which might be one of the key attributes that attracted the Hungarian top-flight side.

Should Bafana Bafana move for him?

Like his brother, Keanu is still eligible to play for Bafana Bafana, even though he has earned himself a cap with the Australian Under-23 side. This move may well be a step in the right direction for the 22-year-old to launch a career abroad that could possibly aid his cause of a senior international football career with either Australia or South Africa going forward.

Should this move materialise, like it is expected to, then it would prove to be second time lucky for the younger Baccus, with regards to clinching a move to Europe. It is believed that he was very close to sealing a deal with Danish giants AGF Aarhus while he was still a teenager with the deal later hitting a snag.

Baccus was thought to be in demand

Baccus is also reported to have been a player in demand and had to turn down a few offers before deciding that his future lay with the 32-time Hungarian league champions.

He will now play Champions League football

Baccus has served the Sydney-based topflight outfit since the age of 17, in a period where he contributed with five goals and seven assists in his 91 appearances for them. His move to Hungary will not only afford him increased opportunities for silverware, with them dominating the league to clinch it 20 points clear, but will also offer him Champions League exposure in the process.

Both Bafana Bafana and Australian national team’s will be keeping a keen eye on his progress going forward and it remains to be seen which national side he will opt for when the time comes.
