Inter Milan edged their rivals AC Milan 1-0 to reach the final of the UEFA Champions League.

A goal from Lautaro Martinez killed off the tie in San Siro to see Inter win 3-0 on aggregate on Tuesday.

“What counts is the squad. I experienced it at the World Cup (with Argentina),” Inter captain Martinez said after the game.

“It makes it easy if you have a united squad with everyone pulling in the same direction. It means you get to play these very important matches in the best possible way.”

The Inter Milan skipper said the experience of winning a World Cup helped

“After winning the World Cup and experiencing what is the pinnacle for a player I knew we could reach this final, and we did it,” Martinez added.

Despite being the fourth best side in Serie A side this season, Inter are more than capable of beating Real Madrid or Manchester City. The two giants face off in the second leg of the semi-final at the Etihad on Wednesday evening.

The winner of the tie is tipped as heavy favourite to win the Champions League.

Inter’s last final saw them beat Bayern Munich 2-0 back in 2010, where they were the ultimate underdogs.

Players like Romelu Lukaku and Edin Džeko can do damage and City or Madrid will be aware of that.

Madrid have won 14 Champions League titles with five coming in the last 10 years.

City on the otherhand, have not won a Champions League and should they beat Madrid, they might fancy their chances(against Inter) this time around having lost a final to Chelsea twoyears ago.
