‘I had so many interests from other teams’ –  Ex-Kaizer Chiefs defender a wanted man in Europe

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Siyabonga Ngezana says several teams have shown interest in him after impressing in Romania.

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Siyabonga Ngezana has revealed that other European teams are interested in his services.

The 26-year-old made a surprise move to Romania last season to join FCSB. He went on to play over 30 matches in his debut season helping the club to the SuperLiga. Ngezana has since been linked to a move to France after impressing FC Lorient.

Speaking to Marawa Sports Worldwide, the former Kaizer Chiefs said his focus was to help his team win and not on speculations.

“To be quite honest, that time the league was coming to an end, I had so many interests from other teams, but my focus was to keep my head down and focus on winning the league, which we did,” he said.

“I heard a lot of rumours, but obviously, it was rumours; I don’t pay too much attention to them until there’s something solid. 

Ex-Kaizer Chiefs defender could leave Romania

“It was not only a team from France but also in Turkey, but it means there’s something because even my boss, Mr. Gigi Becalli, also said something about it. It’s not in my hands, it is under the management,” Ngezana said.

The former Kaizer Chiefs defender was reportedly given a price tag of R145 million by FCSB, Last year in September,  reports emerged that the Ligue 1 outfit FC Lorient was keen to signNgezana for €5 million (R104 million). Still, FCSB rejected the offer, insisting on selling Ngezana for no less than R145 million.

Ngezana opens up on rumours linking him with another move

Since leaving Kaizer Chiefs, Ngezana has improved as a defender even earning a national team callup from Hugo Broos. The tall centre-back even featured during Bafana Bafana’s recent 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Ngezana is expected to rejoin the Romanian team when their preseason resumes end of the month.
