He previously led SuperSport United to three consecutive PSL titles during the 2007/08, 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons. Following that, Hunt masterfully mentored Bidvest Wits to a domestic title in the 2016/17 season.

He has now spoken about why he feels his latest coaching gig didn’t work out.

“Maybe I am too honest. Maybe I talk too much and am too opinionated, and club bosses dislike honesty in coaches. I lost my coaching job because of that,” he told the Daily Sun

“But I will never change my principle for anyone else. I will stick to what I believe in.”

Hunt is currently working as an Afcon match analyst for SuperSport TV, and is soon set to link up with reigning Premier League champions Manchester City for two weeks.

“I will check out the environment and see if there are opportunities. I got an invitation from a friend, who works at the club,” he explained.

“For now, I am enjoying my role as an analyst at SuperSport, but I am available to take on new job offers.”

GAVIN HUNT WILL NOW BE A SOUGHT-AFTER COACH

The 57-year-old may have struggled with Amakhosi, but they also had a transfer ban and were rebuilding their side. Based on his record as a coach, Hunt is likely to still be sought-after on the local scene.

“In SA, it’s about who you know and not about your coaching experience and qualifications. I am ready for my next coaching challenge. I had good jobs and believe they will come again,” he added.

“I am still looking, and nothing is available at the moment. I am willing to take any job that comes my way.”
