Former Orlando Pirates coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has been sacked by Zambia following the team’s early exit from the Cosafa Cup.

Zambian national football team coach, Milutin Sredojevic, outside the Brighton Regional Court in the Eastern Cape where he is facing charges of sexual assault.

Former Orlando Pirates coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has been sacked by Zambia following the team’s early exit from the Cosafa Cup.

Sredojevic’s charges were ousted from the regional tournament by Bafana Bafana, who are in the final following a semi-final win over Mozambique.

Now, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced the news of Micho’s departure from the national team with immediate effect.

“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has mutually separated with Chipolopolo head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic,” reads a statement.

Micho had been in charge of Zambia since his appointment on 3 February 2020, and FAZ saw the need to part ways with the coach, saying it was in the best ‘interest of both parties’.

FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala said the association met with Micho, and both parties reached an agreement.

“FAZ can confirm that it has reached a mutual separation agreement with its senior Men’s National Team coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic.

“After a meeting between FAZ and the coach, it was agreed that the interest of progress for both parties they had to separate,” said Kashala.

Micho thanked the Zambian people and everyone, including the players, for the support they gave him during his 17-month stay with Chipolopolo.

“I am grateful to the Zambian people, the players, coaches, officials and the fans who supported me in various ways during my stay.
