The Warriors were without star Amakhosi forward Khama Billiat who missed the match in Ghana through suspension.

Mohammed Kudus put the Black Stars ahead after just five minutes, before Knowledge Musona converted a penalty after 49 minutes level the match at 1-1.

Musona, 31, played 88 matches for Kaizer Chiefs, scoring an incredible 40 goals.

Arsenal star Thomas Partey gave Ghana the lead once again in the 66th minute after which Andre Ayew put the result beyond doubt with a third goal in the 87th minute.

The three points for their win moved Ghana up to six points at the halfway mark of qualifying in Group G, one behind current leaders Bafana Bafana.

Ethiopia have three points while Zimbabwe’s hopes of topping the group hang by a thread with a single log point to date.

Ghana will travel to Harare to play Zimbabwe in their next match on Tuesday, 12 October at 15:00 SA time.
