Former Orlando Pirates striker Justin Shonga has hit the ground running at Egyptian outfit Ismaily SC just days after joining them.

Former Orlando Pirates striker Justin Shonga has hit the ground running at Egyptian outfit Ismaily SC just days after joining them.

With the Egyptian Premier League currently in off-season, Ismaily organized a friendly against Tala’a Al Ostool on Wednesday night.

Shonga was given a run and he didn’t disappoint as he found the back of the net and grabbed an assist in Ismaily’s 2-0 win.

Shonga has undoubtedly made a statement at Ismaily with his performance, and it was also a strong message to teams that rejected him in South Africa.

The Zambia international was rejected by a number of teams, including AmaZulu whom he had hoped to join before moving to Ismaily.

After the game, Shonga said he wants to use the Egyptian Premier League as a stepping stone to realizing his dream of playing in Europe.
