The decision to move the match to South Africa follows after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) banned Ethiopia’s Bahir Dar Stadium, declaring it unfit to host international matches.

The Bahir Dar Stadium failed to meet CAF’s strict requirements, making it unavailable to the Ethiopia national team for next month’s fixture.

The news will be welcomed by the Black Stars who will now play what is a ‘can’t lose’ fixture on neutral ground.

Bafana Bafana currently top Group G with 10 points after four matches with Ghana second on nine points.

Both third-placed Ethiopia (three points) and last-placed Zimbabwe (one point) have been eliminated from contention.

Only the 10 group winners will progress to the next stage with they will be randomly drawn in five matches with those winners earning the right to represent Africa at next year’s World Cup in Qatar.

The date for the match has tentatively been scheduled for Thursday, 11 November.

Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana will host Zimbabwe in their second-last clash before travelling to Ghana for their final match in what is looming as the group decider.
