Chelsea will continue to train and honour their fixtures although the future of the club remains unclear.

“Following the imposition of sanctions by the UK Government, the Premier League Board has disqualified Roman Abramovich as a Director of Chelsea Football Club.

Despite this latest development Abramovich and the UK government have reportedly agreed for the sale of the club to resume.

Abramovich announced his decision to sell the Blues on March 2, before being hit with sanctions which have stalled the process.

Chelsea to continue season

Chelsea have been given a special license to continue competing, while all the rest of Abramovich’s UK assets have been frozen.

According to Talk Sport the government considers new ownership of Chelsea as the best way forward, although Abramovich would have to write off massive loans and receive none of the proceeds.

Despite the gloom surrounding Chelsea, former striker Tony Cascarino believes there are positive times ahead at the club.

“I do believe there will be a great outcome, the end game.

“I understand the ties to Abramovich, the money, the chain and where it goes.

“It’s becoming very complicated but I do believe there will be solutions.

“This is so unprecedented.

“They must see this as an isolated case, because I’ve never seen anything close to this in football.”
