Liverpool will be hoping to become the first team to come from behind and overhaul the Premier League leaders on the final day.

Meanwhile, Manchester City seek to clinch their third title in four seasons.

Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Southampton on Tuesday moved them to a point behind Manchester City.

The defending champions know anything less than three points at home to Aston Villa could end their defence of the Premier League title.

Standing in their way is Liverpool legend and now Aston Villa head coach Steven Gerrard.

Gerrard never managed to claim a Premier League title while at Anfield, but could help deliver a second in three seasons to his former club.

Jurgen Klopp’s team will welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield on the final day, as they did when chasing City in 2018/19.

Mohamed Salah’s 22 goals leave him one clear of Son Heung-min in the race to win the Golden Boot.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson is tied on 20 clean sheets with his Brazilian compatriot Ederson as they look to claim the Golden Glove.

Klopp said: “I’ve been lucky enough to have had a few exciting times,” Klopp said. “If you ask my missus she asks why [does it] always go down to the last match. It happens incredibly often.

“It’s the most exciting because seeing how good the boys are and seeing the steps that we’ve made and just two games to go. It’s unbelievable. It feels like five minutes ago it was seven games. Now, wham, here we go to two finals. We’ve played finals since ages, but now it’s really two finals. It’s absolutely massive. It’s the most exciting time of my career.”

Pep Guardiola said: “I’m sure my English isn’t good after four, five years. I said in the time you arrive in the titles, the teams with more history have more supporters.

“It happens in Spain and Germany and Italy. We are outsiders in the last decade. In that moment, of course people don’t want Liverpool or us to win. Liverpool fans want to win, I’m not saying all the country are Liverpool fans but in general they are a team with more titles.

“Maybe I’m wrong, but in countries all around the world there are two, there teams people support more than the other ones. Liverpool, United, Arsenal have a lot of history, we are new, how many times we arrive in this history? Brighton, Paul Dickov, I don’t think so. It’s not much. It’s why we feel it’s a priviledge and won’t waste this opportunity to enjoy the 95 minutes.”
