Percy Tau has been omitted from coach Graham Potter’s Brighton & Hove Albion squad for the 2021/22 Premier League opener away to Burnley on Saturday.

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Graham Potter has issued an update on the future of Percy Tau at the club amid his imminent move to Al Ahly.

Tau hogged the headlines last week after reports had emerged that he was close to joining former coach Pitso Mosimane at Al Ahly.

However, there has been no official confirmation of the proposed deal by either Brighton or Al Ahly.

Tau’s exclusion from the Brighton squad this past weekend fueled speculation that the Bafana Bafana attacker was indeed on his way to Al Ahly.

However, Potter downplayed the reports saying there was no new information regarding the future of Tau and his possible move to Al Ahly.

Potter said Tau’s absence from the squad was due to the player’s personal reason, adding that everything will become clearer on Tuesday.

“Not, not at the moment,” said Potter as per The Argus.

“There was a personal reason why he was not in the squad,” he said.

“We will see how the weekend goes and go from there on Tuesday.”
