Mason Greenwood, according to reports, believes he will never be allowed to play for Manchester United again.

Mason Greenwood’s future at Manchester United looks to have been updated ahead of the 2023/24 season.

The 21-year-old has not played football since being detained on allegations of attempted rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour in January of last year.

Greenwood’s accusations have now been withdrawn, but the once bright young player’s road back into the United fold has not become apparent.

The conclusion of an internal inquiry by club authorities will finally decide his future at the Red Devils, with the English giants expected to make a decision at the end of this season.

Greenwood is set to miss the remainder of the 2022/23 season while club executives consult with various people inside the club before declaring the next measures in this highly sensitive case.

Time may be up

According to recent reports, the one-time England international is desperate to return to play for United, but The Sun says the left-footed attacker is beginning to feel “finished” at his childhood club.

While reportedly frustrated, Greenwood is rumoured to recognize that his situation is his own fault and appears to believe that his future does not include playing for the 20-time English champions.

Greenwood has been linked with transfers to Turkey and Italy, but it is unknown where he would want to play if Erik ten Hag and his staff approve his sale.
