Man City Pep Guardiola sounded puzzled in his post-match interview when asked about the validity of Man United’s equalizer in today’s Manchester Derby. United beat City 2-1 and now trail the Citizens by just a single point on the Premier League table.

Here’s how it all went down, in case you missed it.

Premier League: Let’s all LOL at Chelsea

A game of two halves in the Manchester Derby

A rather tepid first half saw City dominate the ball but do very little with it, while United looked dangerous on occasion from counter-attacking situations. The second half came to life, with City moving the ball visibly quicker and they grabbed a deserved lead through substitute Jack Grealish, who nodded home a gorgeous Kevin De Bruyne cross on the hour mark. At that stage, City were cruising.

Then came the controversial moment. Casemiro’s excellent through ball aimed for a clearly-offside Marcus Rashford was left alone by the England striker. Bruno Fernandes arrived on the scene to sweep it home and the on-field referee ruled for offside. However, after consultation with his video assistants, Stuart Atwell awarded the goal.

Fewer than three minutes later, Marcus Rashford swept United into the lead after great work from teenage Argentinian substitute Alejandro Garnacho. He’s the youngest player ever to assist in a Manchester Derby at 18 years and 197 days. United have now won 10 consecutive matches at Old Trafford in all competitions and they move up to third in the Premier League.

Rashford is the first Man United player to score in seven consecutive games since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008. He’s in quite a patch of form.
