English Premier League runaway leaders Liverpool face a mouthwatering derby clash with Manchester United this weekend, as they bid to maintain their near-perfect EPL record this season.

The Reds have surrendered just two points all campaign and sit top of the table by a ridiculous 14 points following last Saturday’s hard-fought victory away at Tottenham.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are also a whopping 27 points clear of their fifth-placed North West rivals, who visit Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has at least inspired his team to three victories in their last four, most recently a 4-0 thumping of rock-bottom Norwich at Old Trafford.

Manchester City returned to second in the standings last Sunday thanks to a 6-1 thrashing of Aston Villa to make it three wins on the spin for coach Pep Guardiola and Co.

The division’s top scorers welcome faltering Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Roy Hodgson’s Eagles just about remain in the top half despite three successive draws, including last Saturday’s at home to Arsenal.

City’s return to second spot was enabled by Leicester’s remarkable slip-up at home to Southampton.

The Foxes battered the Saints 9-0 earlier in the season, only to come a cropper to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s resurgent side at the weekend, pegging them back following back-to-back wins away from the King Power Stadium.

Brendan Rodgers takes his side to Burnley on Sunday, with the Clarets coming into the Turf Moor clash off the back of four defeats in a row.

The most recent of those reverses came at the hands of Chelsea, who retained their buffer zone in fourth place ahead of a Saturday night trip to Newcastle.

The Toon Army stopped a worrying run of three straight defeats last time out as they pinched a point from a 1-1 draw at Wolves.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men now travel to red-hot Southampton with a previously unthinkable three points separating them in mid-table.

Arsenal and Sheffield United meet for their date at the Emirates Stadium with the standings looking decidedly topsy-turvy.

The Gunners are loitering in tenth following just one win in their last six, while the Blades are a creditable sixth in the table after continuing their confident EPL return with a home victory over West Ham last Friday night.

Watford are another reinvigorated side as they prepare to tackle Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham at Vicarage Road in the Saturday lunchtime kick off.

Nigel Pearson has steered the Hornets out of the relegation zone with four wins from five, trading places with Bournemouth thanks to a handsome 3-0 south coast success last weekend.

Eighth-placed Spurs are scrambling for European qualification and have won just one of their last five in the Premier League.

Eddie Howe’s Cherries, meanwhile, are unchartered waters after dipping below the dotted line, with a nerve-jangling visit to basement side Norwich their next assignment on Saturday.

The Canaries are six points adrift at the foot of the EPL table after their Old Trafford drubbing.

West Ham are only a point above the drop zone themselves, as returning coach David Moyes goes up against the club where he made his managerial name in Everton.

The Toffees have flown up the table and saw off Brighton 1-0 at Goodison Park last weekend to go 11th under boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Graham Potter’s Seagulls are in danger of slipping into the mire as a result, with just three points between themselves and their 18th-placed visitors Aston Villa on Saturday.
