BREAKING: Chelsea sack Thomas Tuchel!

Chelsea have announced the sacking of Thomas Tuchel a few hours after the club’s 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League.

Chelsea have announced the sacking of Thomas Tuchel a few hours after the club’s 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League.

Tuchel had been on the job since January 2021 when he replaced Frank Lampard, and at the time, Chelsea offered him an 18-month contract.

In June 2021, Tuchel was offered a new two-year deal, and this was on the back of Chelsea winning the UEFA Champions League.

However, under his watch, Chelsea were not able to defend their title as they crashed out in the quarter-finals at the hands of Real Madrid.

Tuchel leaves having won three trophies with Chelsea – UEFA Champions League, Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup titles.

The club thanked Tuchel for his contribution and lauded him for the trophies he won but the new owners believe they needed change.

CHELSEA SACK THOMAS TUCHEL – FULL STATEMENT

On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the Club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club. Thomas will rightly have a place in Chelsea’s history after winning the Champions League, the Super Cup and Club World Cup in his time here. 

As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the Club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition. 

Chelsea’s coaching staff will take charge of the team for training and the preparation of our upcoming matches as the Club moves swiftly to appoint a new head coach. 

There will be no further comment until a new head coach appointment is made
