Arsenal star Bukayo Saka: Best player in the Premier League?

If Arsenal go all the way and win the Premier League this season, Bukayo Saka should win the Player of the Year award. Here’s why.

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is still only 21 years old but he’s quickly become their most important and decisive player. Not only is he their best player, he’s the finest in the whole of the Premier League.

Bukayo Saka has evolved up at Arsenal

Starting out as an adventurous left-back, Saka’s evolution has seen him play higher up the pitch on the left-hand side. Now, he thrives as an inverted winger operating of the right-hand side, doing damage with his trusty left foot. Saka is predominantly left-footed, but he’s become so comfortable on his right that it’s difficult to say which foot he favours. Saka’s versatility and in-game intelligence makes it difficult to say what exact position he plays. He’s a winger, but with creative midfield tendencies.

Saka’s output makes him the best

Okay, Erling Haaland has directly contributed to more EPL goals this season (33, made up of 28 goals and five assists) but Saka’s more of an all-rounder. He’s the only player in the Premier league with double figures for both goals and assists (12G, 10A), again underlining how complete a player he is. He’s now a reliable match-winner for the Gunners, and he proves it time and time again. Saka now has 16 goals & 7 assists in his last 34 appearances for club and country. He scored from outside the box for England against Ukraine and assisted Harry Kane’s goal for the Three Lions.

Arsenal enter critical stage of the EPL season

With just 10 games to go, Arsenal hold an eight-point lead over Man City at the summit of the table, although City have played a game fewer. Saka and Arsenal face Leeds United on the weekend when the Premier League returns. He scored the only goal in this season’s reverse fixture against the Peacocks, and you wouldn’t be shocked if young Bukayo produced the goods again at the Emirates.
