Carling Black Label Cup: Chiefs draw Bucs, Downs learn opponents!

The draw for the inaugural Carling Black Label Cup has been made with all four teams that got the most votes involved in it.

On Monday, Kaizer Chiefs were confirmed as Orlando Pirates’ opponents while AmaZulu were pitted against Mamelodi Sundowns.

AmaZulu had been neck on neck with Swallows who, at one stage, were placed fourth but it is the Durban-based outfit who secured a place in the one-day event.

HOW MANY CARLING BLACK LABEL CUP VOTES DID CLUBS GET?

As expected, Chiefs finished first with over 490 000 votes while arch-rivals Pirates came in second with just under 355 000 votes.

Sundowns had always been third since the starts of the voting, and that’s where they finished with 171717 votes.

Usuthu, on the other hand, received 144829 votes, beating fifth-placed Swallows by more than 32 000 votes in the process.

WHEN IS THE CARLING BLACK LABEL CUP?

The 2022 Carling Black Label Cup will be played on 12 November at the FNB Stadium with the first match kicking off at 9:30.

And that will be the Sundowns vs AmaZulu match while Chiefs and Pirates will go head-to-head at 12:00.

The Carling Black Label Cup final is scheduled for 17:00 but before then, there will be a penalty shootout at 15:30 between two losers’ semi-finalists.
