Marumo Gallants suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Futuro Kings in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday.

Marumo Gallants suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Futuro Kings in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday.

This was Gallants’ first ever experience of continental football as they represent South Africa by virtue of winning the Nedbank Cup.

Gallants’ preparations for the encounter against Kings were marred by disruptions as they could only travel to Equatorial Guinea with 12 on-field players.

And that is because a number of their players were not registered for the competition while others didn’t have passports, according to reports.

But above all, Sebastian Migne would be pleased with Gallants’ performance on the day, especially because they managed to get an away goal.

What this means is Gallants need a 1-0 win over Kings in the return leg on 17 September to advance to the first round.
