Egyptian giants Zamalek are in the lookout for a new coach following the sacking of their manager on Monday night.

Patrice Carteron was fired from his position as manager following a series of poor results during the month of February.

He has been replaced by Osama Nabih who is a former Zamalek player and a member of the technical team.

On Saturday, Zamalek lost 3-1 to Wydad Athletic Club in the CAF Champions League, and the defeat came on the back of a 2-0 loss to Smouha in the league.

But before then, Zamalek drew 2-2 with Petro de Luanda and later played to a 0-0 draw with Sagrada Esperanca in the CAF Champions League.

Zamalek are winless in their three group matches so far, and they are running the risk of not qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition.

And that’s because they are placed third with two points while second-placed Wydad are on six points. Log leaders Petro de Luanda are on seven points after three Group D matches.

CARTERON WAS ONCE WANTED BY KAIZER CHIEFS AND MAMELODI SUNDOWNS

In 2018, Carteron confirmed receiving offers from both Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.

And he revealed this information immediately after penning a two-year deal with Al Ahly at the time.

Carteron never lasted at Al Ahly as he was fired just five months after assuming the role of head coach at the club.

WHAT CARTERON SAID ABOUT THE CHIEFS AND SUNDOWNS OFFERS

“Negotiations were finalised rapidly. I will fight in order to lead Al Ahly to win titles and make the fans happy. I committed to my word with the Red Devils and terminated my deal with Phoenix Rising by mutual consent,” said Carteron at the time.

“I had other offers from Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs but the priority was definitely for Al Ahly,” he confirmed.
